This paragraph never appears verbatim in the final piece, but it anchors everything that follows. It is the voice document.
Step 3: Structure and outline using Claude with specific instructions.
I give Claude the personal angle paragraph, the target keyword, and the audience context, then ask for an outline. The instruction is specific: "Create an outline that leads with the answer, uses question-format H2s (for GEO optimization), and includes one place for a specific personal example or case study in each section." This forces the outline to have slots for the content that will make the piece distinctive.
Step 4: First draft by me, not by AI.
This is the step most people skip, and it is the one that solves the voice problem. I write the first draft from my outline. It is rough. It includes things like "add stat here" and "expand this later." The point is that the prose rhythm, the specific word choices, the opinions — those come from me. This takes 60-90 minutes for a 2,000-word post. That is slower than having AI draft it. It is also the step that makes the final product worth reading.
Step 5: AI editing pass using Claude for GEO optimization.
After I have a complete rough draft, I give it to Claude with this instruction: "Review this draft for the following: missing FAQ questions that someone searching '[keyword]' would ask, places where I make a claim without support that could be strengthened with a specific example or data point, H2 headings that should be rewritten as questions for GEO optimization, and a comparison table if relevant. Do not rewrite the prose — flag the gaps and suggest additions."

Step 6: Visual content using Canva AI.
I use Canva AI to produce three visual assets per post: a header image, an inline diagram or process visual, and a social share card. I use the same Canva template set for every post in a cluster. Consistency here matters more than creativity — readers build visual recognition of your content over time.
Step 7: Repurposing using Opus Clip.
If the piece has a video companion (a YouTube tutorial or Loom walkthrough), I run it through Opus Clip to extract 5-7 short clips. These markers are the proof-of-expertise signals that AI search engines use to assess citation value, and they cannot be fabricated.

This structure is optimized for both human readability and AI extraction — the AI system can pull the first sentence as a direct answer and the paragraph for context.
4. FAQ sections (3.2x citation lift per Frase data). Pages with FAQ sections are 3.2x more likely to appear in AI Overviews than comparable pages without them, according to Frase's 2026 GEO research. The FAQ should cover questions that are genuinely related to the topic and different from what the main body covers — not just restate the article in question form.
5. Case studies with specific numbers. "Company X used this approach and saw results" performs better than "this approach produces results." The specificity signals expertise. The named source signals verifiability. Both are signals AI citation systems weight positively.
What did Alibaba's content machine teach me about scale without spam?
